About the Department
Public Health Dentistry is the science and art of dentistry that acts in preventing oral diseases, promoting oral health and improving the quality of life through the organized efforts in the society. The department has an area of interest in community approach in a holistic way. The services of the department include the treatment, prevention, promotion and rehabilitative aspects of the dental diseases.
Infrastructure
a) Department is situated on the first floor of G.Pulla Reddy dental college and hospital. AS per the DCI regulations, it has a total of 2000 sq ft area with faculty room, clinic area, sterilization room, storeroom and area for museum & Tobacco deaddiction. Department has fully functional ten dental chairs which utilize for the graduate programme.
b) The department has a fully equipped mobile dental unit with centralized AC, public addressing system. This van is fitted with a hydraulic dental chair, ultrasonic scalers and airotor, and provided with adequate space for seating.
c) One satellite centre at Nandikotkur with fully functional dental chair fitted with an ultrasonic scaler, airotor, motorized suction to provide dental care to the rural population
d) Another satellite centre at the dental wing of Govt General Hospital, Kurnool
Taking Case histories & Indices like the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index, Plaque Index, Gingival Index, DMFT Index, Russel’s periodontal Index, CPITN and CPI Index, Deans Fluorosis Index
